Yvonne Teeters (née Marian Yvonne Goble) passed away November 25, 2022, at home in London, Ohio.
She was born September 8, 1932, in Estoril, Portugal, to American parents Ivan and Marian (née Baker) Goble, who preceded her in death, as did her brother Garrett Goble.
Yvonne married Lawrence Schaefer in 1950, and they divorced in 1977. She married Richard V. Teeters in 1984. Yvonne spent her childhood in Sao Paolo, Brazil, until her parents moved the family to Kent, Ohio, at the end of World War II. She was one of the founders of the Dublin, Ohio library. She served on an early Dublin parks board as well as serving as an officer of the Dublin PTA and the Dublin Music Boosters. She also served as an assistant den mother for Cub Scouts. She had been a member of the Dublin Community Church and later a member of St John’s United Church of Christ in Columbus. Yvonne was a working mother for many years, with jobs at a veterinary clinic, a doctor’s office, and St. Stephens Episcopal Church before becoming a small business owner in 1983 when she and Richard bought BlümenGarten Florists, which they operated together for many years until they retired in 2006. She was known for her green thumb and her love of flowers and plants. Her love of animals resulted in bringing home retired and rescued dogs and one cat. She was better known for her love of family and found great joy in spending time with them. When asked how she was, she would usually reply, "Parts of me are excellent!"
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Richard V. Teeters, along with her five children, Gini (Jim) Busser of South Carolina, Duncan Schaefer of South Carolina, Kate Schaefer (Glenn Hackney) of Washington, Geoff Schaefer of Ohio, and Meghan (Jim) Hull of Tennessee. She is also survived by her three step-children, Eliza Bethe Teeters-Blythe of Ohio, Guy V. “Rocky” (Eve) Teeters of Ohio, and Heather (Howard) Carter of Maryland. Her grandchildren are Brad Weiss of Washington, Shannon Weiss of Indiana, Katy (Jon) Kvassay of Ohio, Amy (Jeff) Scott of Colorado, Graham Schaefer of Ohio, Audrey Schaefer of New Jersey, Mary Hackney (Peg Solonika) of Oregon, Ruth Hackney of California, Jaime (Andrew) Huffaker of Bahrain, and Ryan (Tiffany Walker) Hull of Tennessee; plus Jonathan Blythe, Christa Merchant-Blythe, Alisha Miller, Matthew Teeters, Krystal Teeters, Virginia (Travis) Agee, Deborah Teeters, Christopher Lofton, Christian Lofton, all of Ohio and Howard Carter, Jr of Maryland; and 22 great-grandchildren, plus several cousins, nieces and nephews.
