Wayne Kenneth Wiggins, 62, of Hilliard, died unexpectedly on Monday, August 28, 2023, in Madison Health.

Born February 11, 1961, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of Ernest Wiggins and Lois (Worsley) Wiggins.

Wayne obtained his bachelor’s degree from Xavier University and went on to work for the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority from 1985 to 1988. In 1988, he moved to Central Ohio and began working for the State of Ohio’s Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA). He also began working for the Madison County Sheriff’s Office in July of 1988. Wayne had over 38-years of dedication to his community, strong work ethic, and a selfless devotion to others. His dedication to the public was unrivaled, served as a testament to his strong character, and will be dearly missed.

In his free time, Wayne enjoyed learning, and dabbled in the sci-fi realm, particularly in anti-matter propulsion systems. To relax, he also enjoyed having a glass of bourbon with a good cigar at the end of the day.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Lois Wiggins, brother William Brown, son Andrew Garcia, and beloved wife Diane (Oquendo) Wiggins.

Wayne is survived by four children: Diane Preston, Andrea Garcia, Nicole Oquendo, and Brenden Wiggins; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, mother of Brenden, Fay Wiggins.  

Private funeral services for Wayne are being held at the convenience of the family.
