Roy Lee “LeRoy” Mitchell, 83, of London, died Sunday, July 24, 2022 in London Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born June 25, 1939 in Buffalo, West Virginia, the son of Donald Mitchell and Ann Simpson Hall.

LeRoy graduated from Buffalo High School in Buffalo, West Virginia in 1958.  He soon left West Virginia for London, Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Sharon Grove and married her on October 18, 1964.   He was a founding member of London First Church of God and had served as Sunday school teacher, worship leader and treasurer for 60 years.  He was a lay minister of the church, ministering to patients at Madison County Hospital and Madison Elms (Arbors) Nursing Home.  He worked for Sinclair Oil Company and managed the Standard Oil Company station on High Street for many years.  He retired from the Madison County Engineer and Highway Department as the head mechanic after 27 years of service in 1999.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon Grove Mitchell of London, 2 sons, Christopher (Lori) Mitchell of Gatlinburg, TN and Shad (Jeana) Mitchell of Grove City, OH.  He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Cory Mitchell of Springfield, OH, Abbie Mitchell of Gatlinburg, TN, Brayden Mitchell and Alex Mitchell of Grove City, OH.  Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, Donnie Mitchell of London, OH, Barbara (Robert) Meyer of Wilmington, OH, Joyce Myers of Inman, Nebraska and siblings-in-law Keith and Teresa Grove of Indianapolis, IN and Karen Grove of Gahanna, OH.  He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and many longtime friends.

In addition to his parents and parents-in-law, LeRoy was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Casto and siblings-in-law Lee Casto, Norma Mitchell, Verdel Myers, and Max Grove.

Services will be held at Center Street Church of Christ in Christian Union in London on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 1:00pm with Dr. Keith E. Grove and Pastor Thomas Gardner officiating.

Friends and family will be received at Center Street CCCU, 180 W. Center St., London, Ohio on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 11:00am to 1:00pm.  Interment will follow at South Solon Cemetery.
