Devoted husband and loving father, Robert L. Taylor, 72, of London, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Born March 31, 1948 in New Bedford, Massachusetts; he was the son of Paul and Mary Ann (Falter) Taylor. Bob grew up in Marysville, Ohio. He was a graduate of Marysville High School and Bowling Green University.
His passion for music and playing his guitar, led to the formation of his high school band, "The No Names". You could find them playing across the state at dances, fairs and festivals. The band evolved to "The Original Cast" that played countrywide and landed them in the spotlight on national television in 1969.
Bob married Mary on May 16, 1980 where they made a beautiful life together for 40 years. Their shared love of the water led them to Choctaw Lake where they made their home for the last 28 years. He enjoyed the outdoors; you could find him boating, swimming, fishing and camping. He was also a car (especially Jeep) enthusiast, so much so, he made that his profession, selling cars. He was most recently employed by German Autowerks.
Bob loved the summertime, especially the month of July. Most evenings after work, you would find him relaxing on his back deck listening to the Beach Boys or strumming his guitar with his wife by his side and beloved dogs, Sammy and Sugar. Every year, he worked diligently in his backyard, planting and tending to his garden, trees and flowers to create the perfect escape for him and his family.
Bob had a heart of gold and stood strong as rock. He always took time to ask about others and put those he cared about above himself. He was a person who never met a stranger. He was the ultimate protector of his family. His love ran deep for his family, friends and pets. He leaves behind a legacy and memories that will carry on forever.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years Mary (Curran) Taylor, children Heather (Ed Simson) Taylor, Randall (Katie Clary) Taylor, Staci (Chad) Taylor Hostetler and Matthew (Krista Kelsey) Taylor; grandchildren Brigette Grider and Andrew Hostetler; sisters Kathy (Alan) Taylor McCormick and Karen (Frank) Taylor Rehm; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Mary Taylor.
A private memorial will be held on February 27, 2021, followed by a public Celebration of Life to be scheduled for early July. Additional details will be shared once closer to the date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Madison County, 2020 OH-142 NE, West Jefferson, OH 43162, in Bob's name as a tribute to him and his love for animals.
