Robert Eugene Johnston, 72, of Charlotte, TN, died Friday, September 25, 2020 in Tennessee.

Born February 27, 1948 in Columbus; he was a son of Eugene and Harriet Sue (Carpenter) Johnston.

A US Army veteran of Vietnam; Robert had been a truck driver and also a utilities locater. He had a strong passion for animals and greatly enjoyed his Facebook friends and family, especially his “Words” friends.

Survivors include his only son Robert Talmage Johnston and his fiancée Jackie Daniels; sisters Sharon (Dave) Osborne and Shirley (David) Mans; uncles Jim (Cathy) Johnston and Bill (Myrtle) Johnston, aunt June Zimmerman; step-brother Jack (Penny) Terry, step-sister Donalyn Lemons; friends Don and Pam Davis, Greg and Rebecca Horn, Deborah Davis and Deb Sykes Davidson; several nieces, nephews and cousins and many Facebook friends and his animal kingdom.

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father Harriet and Lee Henson; father and step-mother Eugene and Mert Johnston, brother Richard (Brenda) Johnston, grandparents Dewitt Talmage and Zania Yvette Johnston, aunt Anna Mae (Lou) Lazarevich and step-sister Sandy Stonerock.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, October 7, 2020 in Somerford Township Cemetery, London. The family will receive friends at the cemetery beginning at 1PM Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations for the care and feeding of Robert’s many four-legged friends be sent to the funeral home.
