CORDELL
Mason Matthew Cordell, 18, of South Solon, died Thursday, July 18, 2019 from a fall from his motocross bike.
Born January 16, 2001 in Columbus; he was a son of Matt and Amanda (Chaney) Cordell.
A 2019 graduate of Madison Plains High School where he was active in football, FFA and was on the state champion power lifting team; Mason loved motocross and dirt bikes. Besides hunting, fishing, Dale Hollow Lake and snowmobiling with his buddies; Mason valued his family above all else.
Mason was proud to be a Christian and attended the Mt. Sterling Church of the Nazarene where he had been baptized.
He will be deeply missed by his parents Matt and Amanda, sisters Arington, Aniston and Callie; brother Case; paternal grandparents Dan and Linda Cordell, maternal grandparents Karla Redding, Randy Redding (Ramona Porter) and Mike and Lisa Chaney; great-grandparents Bob and Barbara Redding, Leeman and Mary Lewis and DeWitt and Pauletta Evans; aunts and uncles Lisa and Steve Thornsberry, Cody and Sara Redding, Amanda Cook, Nate and Jenna Chaney and Jennifer Chaney; many cousins and numerous friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday in the Mt. Sterling Church of the Nazarene, 228 N. Market Street, Mt. Sterling. Interment will follow in Paint Memorial Cemetery, London. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2-8 PM Wednesday at Madison Plains High School, 800 Linson Road, London.
A Scholarship Fund in Mason’s name is being established. Memorial envelopes will be available at the school and church.
