June Irene (Borders) Collins

            June Irene Collins of London, Ohio traveled to her heavenly home on August 9, 2022. She was born in Salyersville, Kentucky to Dewey and Dora Borders on August 10, 1932. She married her sweetheart, James, in 1951 and later moved to Ohio. In July they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.

            June retired from Madison County Hospital where she worked as a nurse technician and was affectionately nicknamed “Junebug.” A long time and founding member of London Baptist Church, she took on various roles and duties there-eventually supporting her husband as a pastor’s wife. She spread her sweetness and light wherever she went.

            June enjoyed gardening and her family looked forward to her frozen corn, world’s best coleslaw, buckeyes, and special punch every holiday. She was a hard worker, meticulous housekeeper, excellent cook and baker. She loved to read, do word search puzzles, and sit on her back porch watching wildlife in her yard. In the last few years, she could be found throughout the day scrolling through her iPhone looking on Facebook for posts and pictures from family and friends. Cherished by her loved ones, she will be greatly missed…but not for long. June often talked about her future reunion with loved ones in heaven, especially her son, Dale. That blessed promise is what sustains and gives her family joy.

            June is survived by her husband James; brothers Joe (Betty) Borders of Flemingsburg, KY and Roger Borders of Belleville, MI; daughters Judy Hoover of London, OH and Paula (Tim) Stonecipher of Shallotte, NC; grandchildren Jamie Rinehart of Columbus, OH, Mike Trapp of Columbus, OH, Chris (Kristy) Collins of Kingsland, GA, Justin Collins of London, OH, Jereme Collins of London, OH, Jenna (Corey) Garrett of London, OH, Beau (Rachel) Brandenburg of Rosamond, CA, Drew Brandenburg of Newark, OH, Cole Brandenburg of Shallotte, NC, Chris (Emily) Stonecipher of Earlysville, VA; great-grandchildren Jasmine Rinehart, Kelsea Collins, Alison Collins, Jace Collins, Layla Collins, Miriam Collins, Colt Garrett, Case Garrett, Jocelyn Brandenburg, Benjamin Stonecipher; and special niece Debbie (Damon) Drake.

            She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Dale Collins; parents Dora and Dewey Borders; brothers Chester Borders, Vanzel Borders, Ray Borders, Junior Borders, Ken Borders, Jack Borders; sisters Peachie Crace and Jewel Arnett; sons-in-law Gene Brandenburg and Junior Hoover.

            A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 12, 2022, in the London Baptist Church, 1440 State Route 665, London, Ohio 43140 with Associate Pastor Dan Lowe officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Somerford Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
