THOMAS
Juanita Jane (Colwell) Thomas, 94, of London died Saturday, September 2, 2023, in West Jefferson.
Born August 24, 1929, in Clark County, she was the daughter of Charles F. and Anna Mary (James) Colwell.
Juanita had worked various jobs throughout her career, from the license bureau to the former First National Bank, Dekalb, Doctors West, but will be most remembered for her time at the Madison County Soil and Water. A long-time member of the Newport United Methodist Church, she also belonged to the United Methodist Women and the DAR.
Survivors include her daughter Vicki (Dale) Carner; grandsons Nathan (Betsy) Carner and Jacob Carner; great-grandchildren Mathew (Elizabeth) Carner, Savannah Carner, Zane Carner and Reece Carner; great-great grandchildren Brayden and Aubrie Carner; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lee Thomas, Sr., son Lee Thomas, Jr., brothers and sisters-in-law Wilbur and Evelyn Colwell, Everett “Zeke” and Mary Colwell, sister-in-law Esther Thomas and very dear friend Fred Thum.
The family wishes to thank Sue Iams, Chris and Gayle Gallas, Bella Care Hospice, special friend and care giver Rhonda Waddle and the numerous other family and friends who called, sent cards, flowers and letters to Juanita.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, September 7, 2023, in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main Street, London, with Pastor Wayne Stuntz officiating. Interment will follow in Range Township Cemetery, Sedalia. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 AM until time of services.
