RUTHERFORD, JR.
Homer “Red” Rutherford, Jr., 94, of London died Saturday, November 28, 2020 in his residence.
Born October 19, 1926 in Madison County; he was a son of Homer and Katherine (Gallagher) Rutherford.
A US Navy veteran of WWII, serving on the USS Little Rock and USS Randolph; Red had worked and retired from White-Westinghouse 1988 after 34 years of service. A lifetime member of the board of Directors for LABC, he had served as commissioner for the Davidson League. During his time in the Navy, Red got to spend time at the Brooklyn Navy Yard where he became a die hard Yankees fan.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years Ellen (Archer) Rutherford, daughter Marla (Jack) Turvy, son Mark Rutherford all of London; granddaughters Leah (Vince) Cirivello of Gahanna and Allison (Adam) Wilson of Mount Sterling; two great grandsons Anthony and Samuel Cirivello.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Norma Jean Baker and Mary Katherine Bennett, brother Thomas Rutherford, sister in law Betty Bush, and several nieces and nephews.
A public graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 2, 2020 in Range Township Cemetery, Sedalia with Pastor Justin Sterrett and Ed Banion officiating. Due to Covid-19, public calling hours will not be observed.
