Grace Yerian Obituary

Grace (Miller) Yerian died peacefully in her sleep Saturday October 24, 2020 at the home of her daughter. Grace was born November 17, 1927 in Zanesville, Ohio to Roy E. and Nancy (Wedge) Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar A. Yerian whom she married March 24, 1945 in Anniston, Alabama; all her siblings Herbert Miller, Ralph Miller, Doris Miller Cordle (Delmar), Donald Miller; and a granddaughter Sarah Yerian. She is survived by her children Yvonne (Yerian) Hiteshue and Bruce A. Yerian (Rebecca Bletner); grandchildren Nancy Hiteshue Smith (Mark), John M. Yerian (Sheila Hibbs), and James E. Yerian (Kathleen Call); and great-grandchildren Jennifer Yerian, Luke Yerian, and Grace Smith.

Grace was an avid historian and genealogist. As a resident of London, Ohio for ninety years, she was a wealth of information about the history of the community and its families. She was a charter member of the Madison County Historical Society, serving on its first executive board. She was the last of the charter members of the Madison County Genealogical Society and was serving as the MCGS Library Director. Grace was a fifty-three-year member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and was an Honorary Chapter Regent of London Chapter. She was a member of the Captain Francis Drake Chapter of the National Society Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century and served as the Ohio Society State President. Grace also belonged to the Descendants of the Founders and Patriots of America and the Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims. She had the longest years of membership in the First Presbyterian Church of London, Ohio and was a member of the London Chapter 386 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
