PEART
PEART, Gary David, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather died February 21, 2023, with his loving wife, Mary, by his side. He was the son of John Isaac and Ruth Pauline (Leach) Peart. Born on the farm home in Hillsboro, Ohio on April 13, 1933, he was a farmer all his life except for two years spent in the Navy from 1955-1957, serving in the Korean War. He loved the land and raising livestock, showing champion cattle at the Clark County and Madison County Fairs as a youth. Known as the gopher in later years when he could no longer get in his tractor at 87, he would go for this and go for that to John Deere for parts or hauling the fuel tank to his sons all over Madison and Clark County. He loved farming with his three sons, playing euchre with family and friends, shuffleboard in Florida, and swinging in the Gazebo. Gary was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of London, Madison County Farm Bureau, and Lake Choctaw Twirlers. In addition to farming, he also enjoyed, fishing, square dancing, playing card games, but most of all, cherishing time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mary (Jenkins) Peart; sons David (Cheri) Peart, Tim (Gina) Peart, Jamie (Valerie) Peart, daughter Marianne Toops; grandchildren Aimee Cain, Erika (Tommy) Motsinger, Ali Peart, Emily (Josh) Turvy, Taylor Peart, Hilary Peart, Ruth Peart, Luke Peart, Brooke (Kyle) Stevens, Lindsay Toops, Logan Toops; great-grandchildren Liam and Emma Motsinger, Mason and Julia Turvy, Madeleine Herdman and Evelynn Conley, Suzanne, Kirk and Marynn Stevens; sister Cheryl Keller, brother John (Kathy) Peart, brother-in-law Paul Turnbull.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ann Turnbull, brother Gene Peart, brother-in-law Jim Keller, sister-in-law Melody Peart, son-in-law John Toops Jr., devoted pets Lucy and Gypsy.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday, February 24, 2023, in the London First Presbyterian Church, 211 Garfield Avenue, London, Ohio 43140, with Rev. Désirée M. Youngblood, Pastor officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Sterling. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, and on Friday from 12:00 PM until the time of services.
