Craig Smith Obituary

SMITH

Craig Alan Smith, 66, of London, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, in Dublin Methodist Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 9, 1958, in Lima, Ohio, he was a son of Fred Smith and Sally (Furry). Craig was a graduate from Elida High School and went on to attain a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. After graduation, Craig worked as an engineer specializing in aviation. Throughout his career he worked for multiple companies including the former Janitrol, Grimes Aerospace, and Honeywell.

Craig loved spending time outdoors doing what he loved best, skiing. Regardless of the season, Craig enjoyed both water skiing and snow skiing, and was even a member of the National Ski Patrol for many years. A lover of all music, he was also a drum instructor for the London Marching Band from 2006-2010, as well as a band camp instructor for Elida High School for almost thirty years. Additionally, Craig played in various bands throughout high school, college, and even into adulthood, playing primarily classic rock music. At home he loved working outside in the yard, and especially would love tending his garden each year.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 35 years Pam (Dorsey) Smith of London; mother Sally Parker; children Brooke (Shannon) Hastings of London, Tyler (Kasie Pedrick) Smith of Washington Court House, and Caleb Smith of Columbus; grandchildren Morgan Hastings, Ethan Hastings, Ashton Hastings, Irelyn Hastings, Layton Hastings, and Raziel Smith; brothers Keith (Mary) Smith and Kevin (Susan) Smith. Craig was preceded in death by his father.
