SCURRY
Chere Lynn Scurry, 63, of London, died Friday, April 15, 2022, in her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 11, 1959, in Columbus, she was a daughter of Charles “Mousie” and Joyce (Bass) Payne.
Chere worked for the Bureau of Criminal Investigation for 30 years, retiring in 2007. She was also a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield and former member of First Baptist Church in London where she served as a nursery worker and Sunday school teacher.
She enjoyed crafting and watching Hallmark movies, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cincinnati Bengals. Most of her evenings and weekends were dedicated to being a good “NaNa” to her granddaughter, Meila, where they created countless memories.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Ralph Scurry; daughter Ashli Scurry, granddaughter Meila Wilson, daughter Alethea Lamberson; mother Joyce Payne, sister Teresa (Curtis) Brooks, nieces and nephews Brandi Cain, Angelique Payne, Natalie Brooks, Grant Brooks and Randy Scurry; great-niece and nephew Ariana Arrington and Jayvion Stevens; aunts, Dollene Scott, Yvonne Jamison and Sandra Foster and numerous cousins. She is also remembered by a host of friends from BCI and her caring neighbors, and will be especially missed by her beloved companion, Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her father and brother Chris Payne.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 23, 2022, in the First Baptist Church of London, 250 Toland Street, London with Pastors Ernest C. Brown, Sr. and Damion A. Sneed officiating. Interment will follow in Deercreek Township Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the church from 4-7 PM Friday.
