PENWELL
Carl M. Penwell, 85, of London died Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Mount Carmel Hospital in Grove City.
Born September 27, 1935 in Pickaway County, he was a son of Carl and Sarah (Martindale) Penwell.
Carl was a paratrooper for the US Army and a member of Madison Memorial Post #105, American Legion. Carl had done many things throughout his career, from selling cars, to working for a veterinarian, but finally retired from Madison County Hospital. He always had to stay busy, so he then served as caretaker for Oak Hill Cemetery in London.
He is survived by his daughters LeeAnn Penwell and Deeann (Mike) Blake; grandchildren Heather (Kevin), Amy, Brittany, Timothy, Carl, Robert (Tara), Katy, Ty (Caitlin); 13 great-grandchildren; brother Vernon (Carol) Penwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gloria Penwell, daughter Sue Ellen Faulkner, brother Dale (Marty) Penwell, and sister Helen (Max) Alspaugh.
Carl loved stock car racing, his cabin in Hocking Hills, antique cars, his cats, and his family.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family suggests memorials in Carl’s name be sent to the Madison County Humane Society, 2020 State Route 142 NE, West Jefferson, OH 43162.
