STIDHAM
Betty Jeane Stidham (Eberle) passed away peacefully on October 11, 2023, at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Fayetteville, NC surrounded by her loving family. Betty was the oldest child born to the late William and Margaret Eberle.
Betty was born in Quaker City, OH on December 8, 1938. She graduated from Quaker City High School in 1956 and relocated to Columbus, OH to attend Cosmetology School. Married to the late William (Shag) Stidham on August 17, 1958, they built a life together in London, OH.
Betty worked as a beautician for over 16 years, walking to work each day at both Marlene’s Beauty Shop and Llewelyn’s Beauty Shop in London, OH. At age 33, she received her driver’s license and was blessed to drive to her job as a bookkeeper in the Madison County Treasurers Office for 39 years.
Betty grew up in Quaker City, OH a small town in Eastern Ohio with a population of 583 people. She used to joke that she graduated Top 12 in her High School Class, but there were only 12 total in her class. She attended the Quaker City United Methodist Church in her youth which shaped her life and later the United Methodist Church of London, OH enjoying singing in the choir. Her two greatest loves were her family and her faith. She enjoyed reading the bible, sewing, gardening, and rescuing numerous animals especially cats.
Betty loved her family. Her children and grandchildren were a great joy in her life and her proudest accomplishment. Betty dearly loved her late husband William (Shag) Stidham and delighted in the many adventures they had throughout their 60 years together.
Betty loved life. Her later years were difficult having developed Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer’s. However, Betty never complained and spent her time attending Bible Study finding joy in each day. She was asked what her greatest achievement in life was, and she responded, “being kind to people.”
She is survived by her two children Jerry Richard Stidham (Amy Stidham) of Fayetteville, NC; Jason Robert Stidham (Amanda Stidham) of London, OH and five grandchildren: Matthew Stidham, Cooper Love, Aiden Stidham, William Stidham and Jackson Stidham, her brother Charles William Eberle (Connie Eberle) of Cape Canaveral, FL and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
