Obituary

SKEENS Loving husband father and best friend, Williams E. "Bud" Skeens, Sr., 77, of Columbus; formerly of South Charleston, died Friday, January 6, 2017 in Columbus, following a brief battle with cancer. Born October 8, 1939; he was a son of Sylvia (Presley) and Clarence Skeens, Sr. Retiring in 1997 from Columbia Gas as a District Area Superintendent, Bud then worked for Blackhawk Engineering until retiring in 2004. An avid golfer who loved playing with his two sons who were his best friends; he was also very active in Fielding Lodge #192, F & AM where he was a past master and 33 degree mason, as well as belonging to the Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton. A long time pillar of the South Charleston community, he served from president of the Quarterback Club, to head of the Petunia Festival and helped establish and build the Little League Programs. He also belonged to the Eagles Lodge of Springfield and the Moose Lodge of Hilliard. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years Sandra (Bishop) Skeens and son William E. (Kristen) Skeens, Jr and their children Matthew William and Jenna Skeens; daughter Teresa (Terry) Slone, Sr. and their children Ashley (Vince) Banion and Terry Lee Slone, Jr. and son Eric L (Tracy) Skeens and their children Taylor L. and Alexa Brooke Skeens; several nieces and nephews, dear lifelong friend Dan Hennigan; mother in law Wilma Bishop and sister in law Cheryl (Robert) Gray. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Clarence Jr. Skeens and sister Lilly May Skeens. A celebration of life visitation will be held from 2-4 PM Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main St, London, with a Masonic service beginning the celebration at 2 PM. Per Bud's request, he will be cremated. Online condolences for the family may be sent to www.eberlefisherfuneralhome.com.
