LANIGAN Walter Maurice Lanigan, 90, died Sunday, April 28, 2019 in his residence. Born October 23, 1928 in Madison County; he was a son of Edward and Anna (Sullivan) Lanigan. A lifelong farmer and resident of Madison County; he was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a life long member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Madison County Young Farmers. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John (Dorothy) Lanigan and Raymond (Eleanor) Lanigan; and sisters Rose (John) Cauley and Mary Catherine (Don) Murphy. Survivors include his wife of 66 years Mary Ellen (Baumgardner) Lanigan; children Margaret (Paul McFadden) Lanigan, Brian (Lee Anne) Lanigan and Aaron Lanigan (Ruth Ernst); granddaughters Amanda Lanigan Bailey (Matt Williams), Tara and Erin Carroll, grandson Clay Carroll; great-grandson David J. Lanigan (Michaela Palmer); niece Joanne L. (George) Coryn, nephew Casey (Richi) Murphy and numerous other nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Sissy Wiseman for her weekly visits and to Loving Care Hospice and Home Health for the compassionate care given by their staff. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main Street, London. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
