RHOADES

Virgil Richard Rhoades, 73, of Sweetwater, Tennessee, died Saturday, December 16, 2023, in his residence.

Born June 7, 1950, in Springfield, Ohio, he was a son of John Emery Rhoades and Darlene Irene (Ripley) Rhoades.

Virgil was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his time in the service, he went to work as an assembler for General Motors and later became a truck driver. His free time was spent tinkering on whatever he found in need of repair including mowers, old cars, and just about anything that needed a mechanic's touch. Virgil also loved riding his 1994 fully dressed Harley Davidson around the countryside of Tennessee.

He leaves behind two sons: Cary Rhoades of London and Kevin (Angie) Rhoades of Springfield; grandchildren Makalia Kearns, Adrian Rhoades, Justin Rhoades, Dashawn Rhoades; great-grandchildren Arabella Shapley, Talia Fryley, and Alleyonna Carpenter; sister-in-law Sandy (Larry) Gartin; Nieces and Nephews: Larry (Jeanie) Gartin, Danny (Dawn) LeMaster, Ronnie (Diane Conger) LeMaster, Lisa (Darrell Bristol) Crabbe.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; former wife and close friend Beverly "Doog" (LeMaster) Baker; mother and father-in-law Catherine (Houser) LeMaster and Vernon LeMaster; brothers-in-law William "Bill" LeMaster and Ronnie LeMaster, sister-in-law Janet Lynn LeMaster.

Times of Gathering will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM and on Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main Street, London, Ohio 43140.
