CORBIN
It is with great sorrow we announce the death of Mr. Virgil Marion Corbin who passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, in the West L.A. Veterans Community, Los Angeles, California, at the age of 55.
Born February 7, 1969, in Springfield, Ohio, Virgil was a son of Samuel L. Corbin and Dorothy Marie (Bronston) Corbin.
Virgil proudly served his country in the United States Army. As a veteran, he continued showing support to his fellow soldiers, ensuring to always remain close to his military roots and to take care of other veterans in need. He loved listening to gospel music and could often be found singing or dancing to his tunes. Virgil was an avid card player, and no matter what the game was he would always be the first to join and would always play to win. A movie buff, he also enjoyed spending time watching and rewatching some of his favorite movies with friends and family. More than anything else, Virgil was proud of his family and cherished the time they shared together, especially during the summers when they could enjoy cookouts together.
Virgil leaves behind a rich legacy of love through his children: Chantrel (Liz Spence) Corbin, Tajah Corbin, Kiara Corbin, Malik (Lacey) Corbin, and Legend Corbin; loving wife Denessa Dawn (Martin) Corbin; grandchildren Kai, Kaiyana, Kyrie, Nuri, Xyaire, Tru, Pariz, Londyn, Milahn, Marshawn, Ah'Shawn, Jaylin, Josiah, and Lyric; brothers Eddie Bronston and Carlton Corbin, sister Lashell Woodson; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Virgil is reunited in heaven with his stepfather James Reynolds, sister Dommonie Corbin, and granddaughter Lakeynn La'Shay Jean Corbin.
A homegoing ceremony to honor Virgil's incredible life will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM in the Trydestone Missionary Baptist Church, 1710 Damascus Avenue, Springfield, Ohio 45506. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM in Dayton National Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the United States Army. Virgil's family will receive friends for visitation at the church on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
