GERWIG Verner James Gerwig, 75 of South Vienna, Ohio, died in the James Cancer Hospital, Columbus, Ohio on July 26, 2014. He was born on August 16, 1938, in Gassaway, West Virginia. His parents were Christian Harley Gerwig and Osye Evelyn Stalnaker Gerwig. He is survived by his wife, Cathy S. Gerwig; his children, James Michael Gerwig (Cynthia), Randall Allen Gerwig, Wanda Lou Gerwig, Sherry Lynn Gerwig Thompson-Haynes (Gary) and stepson, Brad Jones; by grandchildren Dallas, Jayson, Rylie, Kory, Coty and Kyle Gerwig; Justin Nagle and Sarah Nagle Gilmon; and Andrew and Taylor Thompson; by great grandchildren Austin, Kristian, Andrew, Elizabeth, Nathan and Lawson Gerwig. He is also survived by three sisters Carol Gerwig McCammon of Tampa, Florida; Beauetta Gerwig Parks (Robert E.) and Denna Gerwig Morgan both of London, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a son Thomas Henry Gerwig. Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, August 1, 2014 in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main St., London with Pastor Richard Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, 4781 So. Charleston Rd. Springfield, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 PM on Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Verner's name. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
