Obituary

WILLARD Sharon Jean Willard, 70, of London died Monday, February 23, 2015 at the Madison Health Hospital. She was born July 21,1944 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to the late Frederick and Ruby (Hirsch) Spoerle. Sharon attended Montfort, Wisconsin elementary school, Iowa Grant High School, and graduated from West Grant High school in Wisconsin before attending Iowa State University. She taught English at Sanford Brown Business College in St. Louis, MO, farmed with her husband in Bagley, Wisconsin, lived in Mauston, Wisconsin, Independence, Iowa and Ankeny, Iowa, where she provided child care and worked in the Holy Trinity Lutheran preschool. Sharon treasured her family and spent many years nurturing her children as a stay at home mom. She was active in cub scouts and girl scouts. She and her husband retired in London, Ohio to be close to their grandchildren. Along the way she enjoyed many close friendships and especially loved to scrapbook. Sharon cheered for the Iowa State Cyclones and the San Francisco 49ers. In retirement, Sharon looked forward to class reunions and trips to Florida. She kept her camera handy so that she could document her adventures and share her memories. She cherished her time with her grandchildren. She played, laughed, read stories and always invited them in to her scrap book room to make little creations. She will be missed dearly by her husband, children, brother, sister, grandchildren, son-in-law, nieces, and nephew, as well as her many friends. Sharon left this world suddenly and unexpectedly and the grief of those whose lives she touched feels overwhelming, however, she left notes to those who survived her and asked that her life be celebrated, not grieved and remembered with joy. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years Burdette Willard; children Kevin Willard and Kirsten (Paul) Gross; grandchildren Cheney, Reagan, Nixon and Quincy Gross; siblings Gary (Maureen) Spoerle, Anita (Lee) McKnight, and nieces Shannon, Alicia, Alexa and nephew Gage. She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved uncles and aunts. Services will be held at the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY 103 N. Main St London, Saturday, February 28, 2014 at 1pm with Pastor Thad Gifford officiating. Interment will follow at Deercreek Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 AM until the time of service. Sharon asked that those who wished to make make memorial contributions send them to the Medic Alert Foundation at medicalert.org to assist those unable to afford bracelets or to alz.org to help end Alzheimer's disease.
