FINCHUM Sharon (Crow) Finchum died peacefully surrounded by family in London, Ohio on Thursday June 2nd, 2016.Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Allen Finchum of London, Ohio; children, Kimberly (Al) Roberson of Hamden, Ohio, Eric (Julie) Finchum of Galloway, Ohio; Her brother Gary (Letha) Crow of Elyria, Ohio and sister Suzanne Sowers of McArthur, Ohio; Grandchildren Holly (Colton) Plumb of Richlands, NC, Jeremy Finchum of Columbus, Ohio and Emily Finchum of Galloway, Ohio and one great-grandson, Nolan Plumb. Additionally, many friends, brothers and sisters in law and dozens of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie Crow of McArthur, Ohio.Sharon was born on May 23rd, 1937 in McArthur, Ohio. She graduated from Ohio University in 1959 with a degree in Sociology. She married Allen in 1960. After moving to Columbus she obtained her master's degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University in 1961 and began working for The State of Ohio as a Social Worker. Over the next few years the couple welcomed their two children into their home and Sharon set about teaching them to love God and family, chase their dreams and serve others. Blind for most of her life, Sharon was a shining example to her family and friends that anything can be accomplished with effort and a desire to overcome obstacles.Sharon was an accomplished self-taught musician. Playing the piano, organ, recorder, clarinet and dulcimer, she often filled the room with joy on family occasions. She was an individual who enjoyed camping and was an avid reader. She was especially fond of the Christmas season where sounds and scents were accompanied by the music of her family. A viewing is scheduled for 10:00am Monday June 6th at Eberle-Fisher Funeral Home 103 N. Main St. London, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 and Sharon will be laid to rest at Paint Township Cemetery. Reverend Jeff Smalley will officiate the ceremony. Friends and family are welcome to attend to celebrate Sharon's life.
