Ruth Mae (Green) Dever
With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Ruth Mae (Green) Dever, who passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the age of 98. Ruth lived a beautifully full life centered on her faith, family, and service to others.
Born on April 2, 1928, in Lucasville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Virgil Green and Lida (Billups) Green. Above anything else, Ruth adored her family. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those blessed to know her were truly considered the joy of her life. She treasured every gathering, every conversation, and every moment spent together. Her home and heart were always open, offering warmth, wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love.
A devoted woman of faith, Ruth is a charter member of the London Baptist Church where she has belonged for many decades. She especially loved teaching Sunday School there; sharing her faith and kindness with generations of children and church families.
Ruth was an active member of the Madison County Senior Center and the former Lake Choctaw Seniors Group where she cherished spending time together with friends and fellowship amongst the community
She found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. Ruth loved bird watching, singing, crafting, quilting, crocheting, and gardening - creating beauty with her hands and sharing it generously with others. Whether tending flowers, stitching a quilt, or enjoying sweet time spent together, she brought care and love into everything she did.
Though she will be greatly missed, her love and example will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Ruth is survived by her grandchildren: Rodney Dever, Daniel (Emily) Dever, Jennifer (Erik) Dorn, Jullianne (Mike) Kramer, Benjamin (Marty) Dever, Mike (Tessa) Fout, Michelle Knapp (Chris Mayhorn) and Brandon Kalb; great-grandchildren: Joey, Ella, Samuel, and Fiona Dever, Jessica, Andrew (fiancée Ava Richards), and Samantha Dorn, Emily (Trey) Gainey, Mikey (Danielle) Fout, Audrey Knapp (Tony Flores), Abigail (Andreas) Chaffey, and Zach Poling; brother Virgil “Woody” (Shirley) Green, daughter-in-law Nancy Dever and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Lida; beloved husband Russell Raymond Dever; son Larry Dever, daughter Wanda (Charles) Kalb; siblings: Nye, Daisy, Earl, Alvin, David Wayne, Ruby, Claire, Ulysses, Phyllis, Marvin, Elbert and Lewis.
