MORRIS

Roger Thomas Morris, 78, of London, died suddenly on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in Madison Health.

Born July 20, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio, he was a son of Lloyd Thomas Morris and Mildred Louise (Foley) Morris.

Roger was a graduate of Madison South High School in 1964 and had just attended their 60th reunion the previous Sunday. Following high school and some college, Roger went to work for the former Cooper Energy of Springfield where he dedicated over thirty years of service. After retirement, Roger was sure to stay active whether it be through various hobbies or different organizations. He also spent many years working for Madison County Ride until his second retirement. Some of his hobbies included beekeeping, camping, and gardening. Additionally, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson as well as classic muscle cars including his own Pontiac GTO. Roger liked boating and fishing, and was sure to never miss an Ohio State Buckeyes game of which he and his family were diehard fans. Wherever he sat in the house, Roger was sure to always have his scanner beside him so that he always knew what activity was happening in his county. Whatever activity he took interest in, he made sure he fully committed his time and energy, always dedicating his all to be the best possible. His absolute favorite activity was spending time with family and best friends, as well as hosting neighborhood bonfires.

Always one to stay active in his community, Roger was a member and past president of the London Lions Club, member of the former Jaycees, former member of the Chandler Lodge #138, F&AM, where he was also active in the Aladdin Temple Shrine, troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America, former member of the London City Council, and a founding member of the Madison County Emergency Medical District. Roger enjoyed the time spent with his different organizations and held various offices in each of them. Additionally, he served as a faithful member, deacon, elder, and clerk of the First Presbyterian Church of London for over fifty years.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Corabeth (Justice) Morris, of London; daughter Melanie (Johnny) Buckner of Bolivia, NC, son Marty (Amy Boggs) Morris of Springfield; grandsons Brandon (Shelby) Orahood of South Vienna, Michael (Erika) Orahood of West Jefferson, Brad (Kourtney) Orahood of Winnabow, NC, Jacob Morris of London, Bralon Jordan of London; great grandchildren Colton, Dakota, and Marion Orahood; two sisters including Judy Morris of London; nieces and nephews Susan Page, Todd Page, Melissa Champlain; sister-in-law Cynthia Champlain of North Fort Myers, FL; mother-in-law Roselyn Justice of London.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Miranda Morris; great-grandson Landon Orahood; father-in-law George Justice; brother-in-law Allan Champlain Jr.; maternal grandparents Homer and Veda Foley.
