LONG Robert Eugene Long, Sr., 73, of London died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 in his residence. Born September 16, 1940 in Madison County; he was a son of Newt and Hazel Long. Robert retired from Fisher Cast Steel in West Jefferson and loved to watch his grandchildren play ball and go to see the tractor pulls. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Nancy (Bean) Long; sons Robert (Lavonda) Long, Jr, Gary (Dawn) Long, Scott (Lori) Long; daughters Jennifer (James) Hundley and Beverly Long; 17 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brothers Dick (Mary) Long and Bill Long both of London and Larry Long of Georgetown, several nieces and nephews; sister in law Liz Parnell of London, brothers in law Robert (Darlene) Bean of Wilmington and Dennis (Jill) Bean of Florida, special friends Carla and Bryan Dolby. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James (Gloria) Long and Ray (Alice) Long and sister in law Nikki Long. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, June 7, 2014 in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY with Reverend Richard Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Paint Memorial Cemetery, London. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday.
