Obituary

MILLER

With deep love and respect, we announce the passing of Phyllis Jean (Colliflower) Miller, a remarkable woman whose life spanned 90 impactful years. She passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in the Bluebird Retirement Community. Born on June 5, 1935, in Springfield, Phyllis was a daughter of Charles Colliflower and Lucile (Britcher) Colliflower.

She devoted 30 years of her life to education, beginning her career as a teacher at the former South Solon Schools before moving to London City Schools, where she touched countless young lives with patience, wisdom, and kindness. Her commitment to her students and her passion for learning made a lasting impact that continues through the generations she helped shape. She retired from teaching in 1985, but her influence as an educator never truly ended.

Phyllis was a proud lifetime member of the Retired Teachers Association and of the Madison County Retired Teachers Association, maintaining close ties with her fellow educators and continuing to support the profession she cherished so deeply.

A woman of strong and abiding faith, Phyllis was a devoted member of the London United Methodist Church. Her spiritual life was reflected not only in her daily actions, but also in her commitment to teaching others, particularly through her beloved Christian Action Sunday School class, where she inspired many with her guidance and compassion.

In addition to her many involvements, Phyllis treasured time spent with her friends at the Bluebird Retirement Community, where their laughter and many years of companionship brought her immense joy.

Phyllis will be fondly remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the love she so freely shared with her family, friends, students, church community, and anyone she came in contact with. Her life will forever stand as a testament to the power of kindness, service, and devotion.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law John Miller and Lee Ann Justice-Miller of London, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and David Bunstine of Alexandria; grandchildren Brandon (April) Miller, Josie, Wyatt and Riley Bunstine; sisters-in-law Rheba Smith and Betty Miller; several nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lucile; husband Jack Miller; daughter-in-law Gail Miller, brother Fred (Nancy) Colliflower, and brothers-in-law Dr. Richard Smith and Robert Miller.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main Street, London, Ohio 43140. Funeral services will commence at 1:00 PM with Pastor Dave Leckrone officiating and interment will follow in Kirkwood Cemetery, London.

Memorials in Phyllis’ name be made to the First United Methodist Church, 52 North Main Street, London, OH 43140.
