HUNT

Phillip Lee Hunt, 65, of London, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, in his residence. Born October 7, 1958, in Harold, Kentucky, he was a son of Jack Lawhun and Sarah (Justice) Lawhun.

Phil had worked for the former Capital Manufacturing, now Conduit Pipe Products in West Jefferson, where he dedicated over twenty years of service. Phil enjoyed his work and in turn, his colleagues became some of his best friends and together they made countless memories. An avid music lover, Phil listened to many different genres, but always would gravitate to his favorite rock bands, Disturbed and Metallica. Phil enjoyed watching action movies, and had accumulated quite a gathering of DVDs over the years. Additionally, Phil eagerly collected knives and managed to muster a collection only few could fathom. From his first purchase to his newest addition, his knives were all equally precious to him and he was proud of the collection he managed to build.

Stronger than most, Phil was a very hard fighter who never gave up even when odds were not in his favor. Already a survivor of throat cancer, when challenged with his new obstacle of lung cancer, he always proceeded headfirst, and was never afraid. His strength and courage are characteristics that made him truly unique and will be missed by many. Although Phil was never a man of many words, he always had a heart of gold and cared deeply for others.

Phil leaves behind daughters Heather (Anthony) Mounts of North Carolina and Cassie (Ryan) Appleyard of London; grandchildren Isaiah, Michael, Calina, Khloe, and Jameson; sisters Sissy Lawhun and Angel Lawhun, brothers Everett Lawhun and David Lawhun; close family members Rocky Stone, Chris "Cornbread" Chaney, and Joe Gilpen; numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; many friends especially from work who were like family to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Joe Crawford.
