RAFFERTY

Paul Eugene Rafferty, 86, of Mechanicsburg, died Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in Mercy Health-Urbana Hospital.

Born December 18, 1937, in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, he was a son of Richard Rafferty and Mabel Lucille (Giddy) Rafferty.

Paul enjoyed being outdoors and appropriately took up a career in landscaping. A devoted follower of our Lord, Paul also attended the Mechanicsburg Church of Christ in Christian Union. In his free time, Paul enjoyed learning, mastering new math puzzles and any activity to keep his mind sharp. In particular, he enjoyed studying astrology, calculus, and physics. Additionally, he enjoyed a long country drive where he could enjoy the scenery of a rural county.

His younger family members enjoyed watching old black and white movies with him and will never forget the unwavering care and compassion he had for others. He had a high degree of patience and remained a gentle soul who was always lighthearted, cheerful, and enduring no matter what challenges life presented him with.

Those who preceded him death include his parents and brother Richard Rafferty Jr. Paul is survived by a handful of cousins; other loved ones including Winnie Sampson, Arnold (Cheryl) Sampson, Ebony (James) Cornwell, Olivia (Kegan) Garrett, Ian (Stephanie) Sampson, Jennifer Sampson, Barbara Seward, Chevon Seward, Angel Saunders, Evelyn Lucas, Karen King, and Doris Rogan whom all loved Paul and were dear to him.

A visitation of family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Oak Grove Church of Christ in Christian Union - Mechanicsburg, 11160 Rosedale Road, Mechanicsburg, Ohio 43044 with a funeral service to honor Paul's life beginning at 3:00 PM. Private interment in Somerford Township Cemetery, London, will be held at the convenience of the family.
