MATSON

Nancy (Hodge) Matson, 69, of London, Ohio passed away July 24, 2026, at 11:27 am surrounded by her loving family at the Mount Carmel Hospital, Grove City, Ohio. Born March 17, 1957, in Jamestown, Ohio to the late Stephen Hodge and Mildred Rush. Nancy grew up attending the Bookwalter Church of Christ in Christian Union and was a graduate of Miami Trace High School.

Nancy was employed at the Columbus Dispatch Printing Company in Columbus, Ohio for more than twenty years. While working there she served in the Telecommunications Department as a Centrex Switchboard Operator before transferring to the Advertising Customer Services Department. While working in the Advertising Customer Services Department she served as manager before leaving the company in 2007. Nancy made many friends with her co-workers and with the advertising personnel she worked with in and outside the company. During her time working at the company, she took part in donating time volunteering to support company sponsored charities and events such as Operation Feed and the Home and Garden Show. Also while working at the company, she met her husband, Richard Matson.

Nancy enjoyed shopping and running around to different stores just to look. Nancy's favorite time of the year was the fall traveling when possible and enjoying the holiday seasons spending time with family and friends. Also enjoyed going to festivals and auto shows. Most of all she enjoyed watching Hallmark and old western movies.

She and her husband were very involved with the London Strawberry Festival, royalty court, and parade float, including being named Grand Marshals of the 2018 London Strawberry Festival parade. Through their creativity and initiative to better the program as members of the Strawberry Festival Board, Nancy and Richard set a shining example of service and achievement in addition to their generosity, kindness, and optimistic outlook on uniting the community. Nancy’s goal was to always demonstrate the potential of each person to have a positive effect of the quality of life for others.

Nancy had a very close connection with family and friends, always ready and willing to lend a hand whenever possible. She was a supporter of several additional charities such as; St. Labre Indian School, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the United States military. In support of her mission, memorial contributions in Nancy’s name may be sent to benefit St. Labre Indian School online at https://www.stlabre.org/ways-to-give/.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her stepfather William Rush; father-in-law Gerald Matson; brother-in-law Richard (RB) Buchanan; two sisters Marge Store and Patricia Leiter; two fur babies Maggie and Molly whom she missed dearly.

Left behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 36 years, Richard Matson; son Shane (Heather) Matson; grandchildren: Carter and Kylen Matson all of Lucas, Ohio; brothers Mike (Vikki) Hodge of Leesburg and Steven (Kami) Hodge of London, sisters Terri (Jon) Ellars of London, Tonya Buchanan of London, and Kathy Fife of Wilmington; mother-in-law Pauline Matson; siblings-in-law Bonnie Walelbauer, Jill McNeil, Steve (Vicky) Matson, Bruce (Cathy) Matson, and Joe (Cheryl) Matson; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many extended family and friends. Nancy also leaves behind her loving fur baby companion Buttons Bowties.

Per Nancy’s wishes, she will be cremated without viewing or funeral service. She will then be placed in Bookwalter, Ohio.
