Obituary

WHITE Monte C. White passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in his home. Born September 27, 1932 in Muskogee, Oklahoma; he was a son of Carl and Augusta White, who preceded him in death. Monte is survived by his wife and soul-mate, Jeanne; sons Jeffrey and Douglas White; step-children Andrew Garrett, Kristy Kelly and grandson Aodhan Kelly who was the light in his life. He is also survived by brother David (Pam) White, sisters Betty (John) Blakeslee and Karen (Jim) Barrett; brother in law Ben Green; many nieces, nephews and many supportive and caring friends. Brothers Jack and Tom White and sister Bonnie Green preceded him in death. Monte was a US Navy veteran during the Korean Conflict. The G.I. Bill enabled him to graduate from Oklahoma State University with a degree in electrical engineering. Employed by the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System Project in Tule, Greenland; he was then employed by North American Aviation and was an engineer with the Lunar Docking Project. Monte attended Capital University Law School and graduated with a Juris Doctorate. He moved to West Jefferson and was an assistant prosecutor for Ron Parsons, Madison County Prosecutor. Monte was elected Judge of Madison County Court and the name was then changed to Madison County Municipal Court and he served for 19 years. Monte then served as London City Law Director for over eight years. A member and past president of London Kiwanis, Madison County Bar Association, Madison County Hospital Board, Madison County Historical Society, St. John's Lutheran Church Council-where he was also director of Adult Ministries. Monte was also a distinguished Lt. Governor of Kiwanis 10W District. He was an attorney for Interfaith Legal Services for clients unable to obtain legal services. An accomplished tennis player who won many tournaments, he was also a Master Gardner and loved flowers, was an excellent cook and loved to entertain friends. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Friday, July 17, 2015 at the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main Street, London. A Celebration of Monte's life will be held at 11 AM Saturday, July 18 in the Lafayette United Methodist Church, Rt. 40, London with Pastor Carolyn Peacock officiating, assisted by Rev. Karl Gaston and Rev. Orinda Hawkins-Brinkley. The family would like to thank friends, Lafayette Church Members and Loving Care Hospice for their love, compassion and caring.
