Obituary

GREEN Michael E. Green, 78, of Roswell, GA died November 23, 2015 of complications following a stroke at the Logan Elm Health Center, Circleville, OH where he spent the last two years of life. Mike was born in Kings Mountain, SC, February 20, 1937 to Dorothy (Newton) and Edward Green. He lived a full and rich life. Mike married Jacque Tegland in Tampa, FL, December 27, 1960. He graduated high school in Miami Beach FL, received his undergraduate degree from UCLA and his MBA from University of Pennsylvania. While he was an accomplished marketing manager at DuPont mostly in Wilmington, DE for the first twenty-three years of his career and then retired from Kimberly Clark after seven more years in Roswell, GA, his bigger passion was tennis. Mike had many tennis achievements between his youth and senior years which included playing in the Australian Open, U.S. Open and Wimbledon grand slams tournaments. and on the U.S.A. Davis Cup teams in 1954, 1956 and 1957. Mike was the 1952 National Boys champion and the 1953 National Junior Interscholastic Champion with wins over world class players such as Ashley Cooper, Roy Emerson, Mal Anderson, Chuck McKinley and Rod Laver. Tennis was also a passion shared with Jacque who he met at the U.S. Open after watching her play her singles match when both were in the tournament. Mike involved himself in many business, civic, religious and athletic endeavors as a deeply faithful, life-long learner who inspired his many friends and family. Mike is survived by his three sons, Michael (and Kathy) Green Jr., Kevin (and Jennifer) Green, Jeffrey Green, his niece Kelly Green (and John) Polinsky, his grandchildren Brian, Carly, Matthew, Caiden and Logan. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Edward, his wife Jacque, and his sister, Sandra (Green) McBarron. There will be a memorial service at 10:00 am December 19, 2015 at Fellowship Bible Church 480 West Crossville Road, Roswell, GA 30075.
