CATHEL
Michael Anthony “Mike” Cathel, was received into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the age of 56.
Born on March 10, 1970, in Columbus, Mike was the son of Eugene K. Cathel and Patricia A. (Collins) Cathel. A man of unwavering faith, he dedicated his life to following Jesus Christ after being born again and committed himself daily to walking in His ways. A faithful member of Revive Baptist Church, Mike’s relationship with the Lord was the foundation of who he was, shaping the love, kindness, humility, and strength he shared with everyone around him. While his passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him, he is at peace now and rejoicing in the presence of Jesus, fully restored and at home with his Savior.
Mike found joy in life’s simple blessings and treasured the outdoors. In his younger years, he loved hunting, and in recent years he thoroughly enjoyed spending time fishing whenever he had the opportunity. He was passionate about cars and especially loved attending car shows. He took great pride in his 2000 GT Mustang and enjoyed sharing that passion with his family, particularly his son Noah, who enjoyed evening cruises as a proud shotgun rider. Mike was also a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns, faithfully cheering them on through every season.
Above all else, family was the cornerstone of Mike’s life. Nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by those he loved. Whether gathered for holidays, meals, celebrations, or quiet moments gathered together, he cherished every second spent together. They truly meant the world to him, and the love he gave so freely will remain a lasting legacy in their hearts forever.
Left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of almost 33 years, Cindy (Greene) Cathel; children Cynthia, Hope, Chloe, Claire, and Noah Cathel; brother Charles (Lindie) Collins; niece Nichol (Jesse) Moore, nephew Eric (Kandy) Collins; several great-nieces and great-nephews; adored four-legged companions: Puppy Boy, Grace, Beau, and Bubble Gum. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Patricia.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main Street, London, Ohio 43140. Funeral services will be celebrated at 1:00 PM with Pastor Anthony Smith officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM in Paint Memorial Cemetery, 1869 Old Xenia Road, London, Ohio 43140.
Condolences for the Cathel family may be shared online at www.eberlefisherfuneralhome.com.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and joyfully reunited one day with all who know Christ. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23
