SMITH

Mary Florence Smith, 79, of West Jefferson, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Carolyn's Cottage of Grove City.

Born November 22, 1944, in Lexington, Kentucky, she was a daughter of Ollie Waters and Alice (Hardin) Waters.

Family always came first for Mary. She enjoyed traveling together across the country including to one of her favorite destinations, Walt Disney World, in addition to the many cruises they enjoyed together. With a fondness for shopping, Mary also enjoyed day trips to various boutiques, malls, and local shops where she was always in search of the newest trends. Additionally, crafting was always a talent Mary held, specifically she enjoyed ceramics and yarn work and could frequently be found knitting or crocheting in the evenings.

Mary leaves behind daughter Theresa (John) Stamper; granddaughter Emily (Kyle) Griffin; sisters Hazel (Ron) Santavicca and Ruth (Bob) Huston; sister-in-law Marla Waters, brother-in-law Ken Groves; many nieces and nephews; special friend Janie Leonard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; adoring husband Lonnie Smith; son Ronnie Smith; siblings Stanley Waters, Jerry Waters, and Brenda Groves.

Mary's family would like to extend a special thank you to Mount Carmel Hospice and to Michelle and all her aides at Carolyn's Cottage for their devotion, compassion, and excellent care.

A graveside farewell will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM in Pleasant Cemetery, 14220 Era Road, Mount Sterling, Ohio 43143.
