HAMILL

Mary Jane Hamill passed away at the home she shared with her beloved son, Stephen. She went to be with the Lord and the loved ones who preceded her in death on Wednesday, September 2, 2026; rejoining her beloved husband, Donald M. Hamill, her five siblings, Lisa Hamill (wife of Steve), Ruth Smolenski (beloved companion of Steve), and Michael Burlingame (husband of Nancy).

Born in Wilmington, Delaware on October 28, 1927, she was the youngest of her five siblings (a self-proclaimed daddy’s little girl), and the last survivor.

Mom was a remarkable woman and forward thinker.

A mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Mary Jane deeply loved her family.

Left to cherish her memory include her children: Stuart (Sandi) Hamill, Susan (Rick) McKenzie, Nancy (Jeff) Hamill Burlingame, and Stephen Hamill; grandchildren: Candace (Danny) Webb, Eric (Robert Kennedy) Biederman, Ian (Beth) Hamill, and Jed (Bailey) McKenzie. She will also be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren: Joey (Amanda) Webb, Emma (Aaron) Demoss, Holley (Jordan) Webb, Nathan and Kyle Hamill, Sydney McKenzie; great-great-grandchildren: Daniel, Ray, and Paityn Webb; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of good friends.

Mom loved all flowers and especially enjoyed visiting yard sales and thrift stores. She found that she loved living in the country, taking walks with her entourage of cats and her faithful watchdog, Molly.

A founding and lifetime member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln Village, Mary Jane’s faith was her guiding light and constant source of strength. She was also an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed fellowship and lasting friendships as a member of the Prairie Township Senior Center.

The Hamill family extends a heartfelt thank you to the team at ViaQuest Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion shown to mom during her final days.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 11:00AM – 12:00 Noon in the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 222 Schoolhouse Lane, Columbus, Ohio 43228. Memorial services will begin at noon with Pastor Jon Carlisle officiating. Private interment in the Hockessin Friends Cemetery in Hockessin, Delaware, will take place at the convenience of the family.
