SIMMONS

Marlene Smith Simmons, 70, of London, died Saturday, July 16, 2022, in her residence.

Born July 26, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio, she was a daughter of John Anthony and Marvine Smith.

Marlene graduated from London High School in 1970 and spent her career working in offices. She was a woman who was strong in her faith, and a firm believer in God. Marlene had an artistic personality and was always creative. As a hobby she enjoyed collecting angels. She had a deep love for her family, as well as animals, in particular her cats Angel and Cali. Above all, Marlene was known for her wonderful, infectious laugh.

She is survived by her daughter Tammi Simmons; siblings Mary Ellen Smith, Nancy Smith Johnson, and Michael Smith; aunt Betty Bell of Riverside, California; nieces Manda Smith, Shelly Smith, Kelly Smith; nephews Stephen (Tiffany) Johnson, Brian (Unique) Johnson, Steven (Jiovonne) Whitson, Marcus Whitson, Joseph Smith, Angelo Napper; several great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews; many cousins; and her four-legged companion Cali.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; grandmothers Lora Smith and Louise Cox; sister Diane Smith Hall; several aunts and uncles; nephew Michael Smith Jr.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service that will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Oak Hill Cemetery, 254 Lafayette Street, London, Ohio, with Pastor Brian Hamilton officiating.
