Obituary

DAVIS

Mabel Agnes (Scott) Davis, born August 29, 1930 in Vanceburg, KY, went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 10, 2019.

Mabel moved to London from Cincinnati with her family in 1970. She was a homemaker once she had children, until the youngest started school. This is when she started cooking for Madison Plains Schools.

Mabel loved being outdoors where she always had her flower and vegetable gardens. She canned or froze everything she could. She picked wild blackberries for her famous blackberry cake, or she would climb cherry trees to make her cherry pies. She made banana and zucchini breads to freeze or give away. As gifts, she would make her peanut butter pie. She loved giving her baked goods to people.

Mabel was very involved in her children and grandchildren's lives. She loved them all dearly. She was there to support all of them in any sport or activity they were involved in. She was active in the Madison Plains P.T.O., a 4-H advisor for many years and was also active in many County fair activities. She would chaperone school trips of all kinds. Mabel was a member of the First United Methodist Church of London where she helped in the nursery, served as an usher and was always available to help in the kitchen preparing for the annual baked steak dinner.

As her grandchildren went through school, they each would get off the bus at "grandmas" house with a snack ready for each of them.

Mabel left the school system in 1987 with the urging of her dearest friend Marie (Nibert) Roberts. She accepted a food service position at London Correctional Institute. This is where she met her second husband Pearl Davis. They were married August 5, 1995, the same month they both retired from London Correctional Institute. She was a member of the bowling team for a couple of years.

Mabel was preceded in death by her first husband James W. Davis, mother and father Alice and Wayne Scott, sisters Inez and Edrele, brothers Herbert, Buddy, Ernest, Chester and Gene and stepdaughter Mary Davis.

She is survived by her husband Pearl Kramer Davis, daughters Lynn (Gregg) Payne, Conie Stephenson (Bruce Roberts), son Rick (Lisa) Davis, stepchildren Aaron Davis, John (Gennie) Davis, Tim (Lisa) Davis, Ann (Jeff) Smith, Beth (Eric) Vacheresse, Chris (Steve) Elkins, Teresa (Don) Frye and Paul (Teri) Davis; grandchildren Kylie (Josh) Pritchard, JD (Kassie) Payne, Victor (Tori) Stephenson, Vincent Stephenson (Katlyn Donnelly), Nick Stephenson, Rickelle Davis, Rylee Davis, Ryne (Hannah) Davis, step grandchildren Shawn, Susie, Kimberlyn, Heather, Daniel, Emily, Sarah, Philip, Whitney, Talia, Cameron, Cayla, Erin, Jim, Amanda and Natasha; great-grandchildren Karson, Hadley, Winston, Kennidee and Hayes, step great-grandchildren Isaiah, Isaac, Neo, Ivory, Jaden, Braden, Buddy, Faith, Carolyn, Carter, Adrian, Ben, Thomas and Teagan.
