BYRD

Lewis “Louie” Henry Byrd, age 77, went home to glory on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in his residence. “I Called on the Lord and I got an answer.”

Born January 8, 1949, in Columbus, Louie was a son of Herschel Byrd Sr. and Mary (Herman) Byrd.

For 26 years, Louie worked as a stocker at the former Kmart, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. After Kmart, he continued working at Staples, always taking pride in a job well done and appreciating the daily routine and familiar faces that came with it.

Outside of work, Louie found happiness in life’s everyday pleasures. He enjoyed listening to music, playing cards, and most of all spending time in the company of friends. Whether sharing a laugh, a story, or a hand of cards, he valued connection and companionship.

Left to cherish his memory include his sister-in-law Dimitria Byrd of Urbana, step-brother Charles Whitelow, beloved friend Harry Wallace, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Herschel and Mary, brothers Herschel Byrd Jr., Harold “Bug” Byrd, Alfred “Butch” Wilson Sr., James “Cannonball” Byrd, and sister Evelyn Scurry.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main Street, London, Ohio 43140. Funeral services will commence at 12:30 PM with Pastor Keith Wilson officiating, and interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
