SALMONS Leonard Arthur Salmons, 87, passed into heaven Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Bluebird Retirement Community, London. Born in Lincoln County, West Virginia to Oscar and Clara (Moore) Salmons, he married his sweetheart, Ann (Lawson) in 1949; they were married 62 years. Leonard is veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He retired from Battelle Memorial Institute, where he worked on experimental projects for the NASA Apollo and Space Shuttle missions. He enjoyed spending time working in the garden, and rebuilding his father's 1949 Chevy pick‐up truck with his son. He loved people and found great joy in serving in leadership at Southside Baptist Church in Columbus and Highland Baptist Church in Grove City, Ohio. Leonard is survived by his daughter Beth (Thad) Gifford, son Michael (Samantha), grandchildren, Christopher (Rachel), Michael Jr. (Megan), Taylor, Ashley, Scott, Steven, Bryan, and great‐grandchildren, Ashton, Kiersten, and Ethan. Leonard is preceded in going home by his wife Ann (Lawson), brother, sisters and parents. Above all else, Leonard loved God. His passion was in telling others about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Because of his faith in Christ, we know with all certainty that Leonard is home in heaven, reunited with his wife and parents, and we will join him there in due time. John 3:16. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at Crossroads Community Church, 62 E. Second St, London. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery, Grove City.
