Obituary

BLACKWELL

John R. "Frog" Blackwell II, 50, of Mechanicsburg, formerly of London, died Sunday, January 19, 2025, in the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.

Born February 23, 1974, in Columbus, he was a son of Earl Blackwell and Linda (Carroll) Ward.

Frog enjoyed cooking and had worked for Waffle House where he dedicated over twenty years of service. His true love was always found in music. While he listened to various genres, he always gravitated back to metal music where he enjoyed attending concerts with his buddy Cracker. Frog also enjoyed fishing whenever possible, even though the bait was usually bigger than any fish he would catch! Frog cherished time spent together with family and friends, and could always be found playing uno, shooting pool, or even striking up a game of basketball with his daughter Maranda. He was always immensely proud of her and the young woman she has become. Frog's fun-loving free spirit made him a truly unique and irreplaceable person to be around. Affectionately, a phrase he often uttered included "you're in my way," which will continue to live on as a regular saying and lasting legacy amongst those who loved him.

Frog is survived by his daughter Maranda (Kaleb) Syfert; siblings Jeff (Melissa Letcher) Blackwell, Jennifer (Benton) Smith, Marcy Blackwell, Erin Blackwell, Theresa LeMaster, Earl Blackwell, Kenny Ward, Kathy Swyer, and Karen (David) Pierce; a host of nieces and nephews; Maranda's mother April (Charles) Gearhart; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous extended family members and close friends.

In addition to his parents, Frog was preceded in death by his stepfather Kenneth "Kenny" Ward and brothers Bob and Don Blackwell.

Frog's family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main Street, London, Ohio 43140.
