I am her daughter, and as a writer, putting this lady into words was the hardest chapter yet:

My mother, bold and unapologetically free-spirited was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Crabtree and her son, Terry "T-Bone" Holmes.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Kim Koontz (grandsons, Griffin and Wyatt Koontz), daughter Pam Tyree (granddaughters, Audrey Butt and Casey Robinson).

My mother’s life was ever changing, always in motion - an assortment of cherished memories, lessons, and the essence of her spirit to live, and to make others happy.

She was a melody - coming in with strong tempo, slowing down long enough to leave her mark with those she lingered with, and left with momentum and strength; leaving a resonance and longing for just one more song.
