COX James A. Cox, Sr., 78, of London died Sunday, November 30, 2014 in his residence. Born May 13, 1936 in Rhodell, WV; he was a son of Princie, Sr. and Dora May (Mathews) Cox. James was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle in London, was a former Sunday school teacher, was a veteran of the US Army and also belonged to UTU Local #1376. He was a railroader with the Pennsylvania Railroad, the Penn Central and finally he retired from Conrail in 1998. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Martha (Harrison) Cox; sons James A. (Gina) Cox, Jr and Kennison (Debbie) Sims; grandchildren Kate Brummer, Kala Cox, James A. Cox, lll, Kenny (Cynthia) Sims, Scott (Julie) Sims, Nathan (Allison) Sims and CJ Sims; several great grandchildren; sisters Helen June Brooks of Princeton, WV, Gloria Farmer of VA, Clarice Bailey of TX and Tressie (Terry) Hastings-Taylor of Columbus, brothers Jack (Dixie) Cox of Springfield, Donald (Susan) Cox of London and Gary (Karen) Cox of MN; several nieces and nephews, sister in law Bertha Cox of South Vienna and uncle Herman Cox of Sophia, WV. He was preceded in death by his sister Carol Cox, brothers Princie Cox, Jr and Glenn Cox and brother in laws Gene Brooks, Bob Bailey and Gene Farmer. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main St, London with Pastor Jamie Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in Kirkwood Cemetery, London. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday.
