BATEMAN John "Jack" Bateman, 85, of South Charleston, died Saturday, September 2, 2017 in Springfield. Born October 26, 1931 in London; he was a son of Everette and Gertrude (Kline) Bateman. A US Airforce veteran of Korea and Vietnam; Jack was also a truck driver for the former Wilson Freight. A member of the Era Holiness Chapel; he had belonged to the South Charleston American Legion. Survivors include his beloved wife and caregiver Brenda Angel-Bateman; children Ricky Bateman of ME, Vicki Bateman of NJ and Jackie Bateman of South Charleston; step daughter Joanna (Donald) Davis; several grandchildren including Haley, Bradley and Gage Davis; brother Larry Bateman of CA; dear friend Shelly Rose who was like a daughter and sister in law Sheila Bateman. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Roseanna Bateman, second wife Sally Ann Bateman, step-son Robert Williams, brothers Charles "Chuck", Leonard Bateman and sisters Patty Goldhardt and Kay Clay. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main St., London with Pastor John Hunsacker officiating. Interment will follow in South Solon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday. The family suggests memorials in Jack's name be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
