MURPHY Herb Murphy, 81, of London, died Saturday, February 2, 2019 in his residence. Born May 11, 1937 in Sciotoville; he was a son of Dr. Herbert and Melva (Spriggs) Murphy. A US Air Force and Marine Veteran; Herb had worked in management at White-Westinghouse and Delphi/GM, from where he retired. A member of the Masonic lodge, he was an avid dog sled racer, loved traveling, hunting and just being outdoors. A devoted family man, Herb was known for his quick dry wit and was extremely resilient. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marylou (Arata) Murphy, children Morganna Murphy (Paul) of Gulfport, FL, Jason (Jillian) Murphy of Marysville, Dr. Arrien (Dr. Vince) Mendola of Rockville Center, NY and Courtney (Shawn) Cahill of London; grandchildren William J. Martin, Cory M. Martin, Hunter Mary Murphy, Lance Cahill, Brady Cahill, Brooklyn Cahill, Ella Arslan, Kyla Arslan, Evangeline Mendola; great-grandson Logan Roberts; brothers Kenneth (Nancy) Murphy of Lawrenceville and Gary (Jeanie) Murphy of Albertville, AL and niece Ann Henson Birdwell of Red Lodge, MT. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main Street, London with Pastor Jerry Poff officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 AM-1 PM, Thursday.
