Obituary

Helen Lucile Henson of Lilly Chapel, Ohio, passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, in her home after a brief illness. Helen was born on September 23, 1924, in Ashland, Kentucky, to Pearl and Ethel (May) Roark. She graduated from Fairfield High School in Madison County, Ohio. After WWII ended she met and fell in love with returning soldier Elmer Aaron Henson and they married on June 17, 1946. They were married until his death in 1991. She retired after 20 years as an LPN with the Ohio Department of Mental Health. Helen enjoyed gardening, crochet, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of The Church Next Door in Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Donald Roark, Guy Roark and his wife Loretta, and brother-in-law Dan Davis. Helen is survived by daughter Deborah (Jerry) Kitchen of Lilly Chapel, son Michael (Vicki) Henson of Urbana, Ohio, grandsons Jeffrey (Anita), Jonathan (Sue) and, Aaron (Lydia) Kitchen, Ira Henson, Kent (Emily) and Kyle (Karen) Smith. Great-grandchildren Elmer Cody, Wayne, McKenzie, and Abram Kitchen, Nolan Smith and Abigail Abbott. Brothers Charles (Judy) and Harold Roark of London and sister Barbara Davis of Columbus. Sisters-in-Law Marilyn Terry and Ann Henson. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially Dottie Travis who was wonderful during her illness. Friends and family may call Thursday, July 23 from 5 to 8 PM at Eberle Funeral Home in London. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 24 at 10 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lilly Chapel with Rev. Jon Osmundson officiating. Interment immediately following the service at Dennison Chapel Cemetery. Donations in Helen's memory may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund or Loving Care Hospice.
