BYRD Harold Gene "Bug" Byrd, 71, of London died, Thursday, June 6, 2019 in his residence. Born October 25, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio he was a son of Herschel and Mary (Herman) Byrd, Sr. He was a 1967 graduate from London High School where he played on the football team. He was a veteran of the United States army serving in Vietnam. He retired after working 26 years at London Correctional, London, Ohio. He loved his sons unconditionally supporting them 100%. He cherished his family and was always just a phone call away. He is also known by his love for the team up North (Michigan) which he clearly expressed by the many decals he displayed on his cars and in his yard. We cannot forget the Friday nights he spent sitting around the card table playing quarter to fifty cent poker with the girls. He is survived by his sons Frankie (Geraldine) Byrd and Andre Byrd Sr.; grandchildren Andre, Jr, Dre'Vaun, Aaren, Tanner, Kye and Macie; brother Louie of London, Herschel (Dimitira) of Urbana; and step brother Charles Whitelow, Columbus and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Herschel and Mary (Herman) Byrd, Sr.; stepmother Helen (Whitelow) Byrd; daughter Crystal Byrd; brothers James "Cannonball" Byrd and Alfred "Butch" Wilson and sister Evelyn Scurry. Friends and family may pay respects from 10 AM to 1 PM, Friday, June 14, 2019 at Fountain of Truth Ministries, 135 Maple Street, London, Ohio where services will begin at 1 PM with Pastor Keith Wilson, officiant and Pastor Tyrone Artis, eulogist. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, London, Ohio with military honors being bestowed by Madison Memorial Post #105, American Legion.
