THOMPSON Glenna A. Thompson, 97, of Springfield, died at 3:05AM Thursday, August 15, 2013 in the Oakwood Village Care Facility in Springfield. Born in Springfield on March 12, 1916, she was a daughter of Harry and Carrie (Goings) Ackerman. Glenna was a teacher for 40 years, having taught in Clark, Champaign, and Madison Counties. She was a member of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church and a member of the Women's Society of the church. A member of the Clark and Champaign County Retired Teachers Associations, she was also a member and past president of the Madison County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member and past worthy matron of the Caroline Chapter #39 O.E.S., and a charter member and past president of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society. Glenna was also a member of the Springfield Club. Survivors are her daughter, Sharon Bixler of Springfield, OH; grandchildren, Jonathan (Diana) Clunk, Christopher (Kelly) Clunk, and Kara (Brian) Davis, all of Springfield; great grandsons William "Billy" Clunk and Nicholas Clunk, both of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, and great great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pearl W. Thompson, on July 13, 2001. Also preceding her in death were 2 brothers, Herman and Owen Ackerman, and her sister, Mildred Carmen. Friends may call at the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME in London, from 5 to 8 PM Friday, August 23, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted there at 3:00PM Saturday, August 24, 2013 with Rev. Dr. Harley Roston officiating. Interment will follow in Somerford Township Cemetery. Eastern Star services will be held in the funeral home at 8:00PM Friday.
