Obituary

BIVENS George Bivens, 79, of London died Wednesday, November 12, 2014 in his residence. Born January 14, 1935 in Ross County; he was a son of Ralph and Mabel (Payne) Bivens. George was a truck driver for Interstate and Yellow Freight for 33 years, was a member of the West Jefferson Harvest Chapel Church of Christ in Christian Union, the NRA, Moose Club #11 and past scout master of Troops #31 and 411. He was also a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife Violet (Lanning); children Vicky (Lou) Keeton Ralph "R.D." (Judy) Bivens and Valerie (Buck) South all of London; stepchildren Robert "Bob" (Amy) Foreman, Steve (Linda) Foreman and Karla Phelps; grandchildren Mandy Childers of Columbus, Kayla South and Delaney Bivens both of London, great grandchildren Heather and Luke Childers; several step grand and great grandchildren; brother Don Bivens, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Vera (Hinton); brothers Curtis Payne and Ralph Bivens, and infant granddaughter Angel Childers. Funeral services will be held at Harvest Chapel Church of Christ in Christian Union 530 West Jeff-Kiousville Rd, West Jefferson, Monday, November 17, 2014 at 11AM with Pastor Paul Burgett officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM Sunday. Services have been entrusted to the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME, London, Ohio.
