SLYH Eunice K. Slyh, 77, OF West Jefferson, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 in Columbus. Born September 10, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio; she was a daughter of Allen and Fanny (Myers) Bettinger. A member of the West Jefferson United Methodist Church, where she attended for many years; she was known best for her warm smile, enthusiastic singing and for helping to create Junior Church and her famous Christian Pokey. Eunice was employed for many years as a switchboard operator at Ohio Bell where she claimed to have the best voice around. She retired from Sears Distribution Center. She preceded in death by her parents and husband William (Bill) Slyh in 1996. Survivors include her daughters Kathy (Jim) Foster of West Jefferson and Valerie (Tom) Cox of London, grandchildren Jimmy Foster, Jessica Foster and Alex Cox, brother: Dale Bettinger, nephew: Kenny (Stephanie) Bettinger, great nieces: Cece Bettinger and Annie Bettinger and many special friends at Bluebird Retirement Community in London, West Jefferson United Methodist Church - especially the Monday Morning Prayer Group ladies, her "adopted" family from Trinidad - Curt, Denyse, Farren and Josh and her many Central High School classmates she still saw regularly. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main St, London with Pastor Pat Oesterle officiating. Interment follows in Sunset Cemetery, Alton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday.
