E. Elizabeth “Liz” Chesser
September 8, 1939 – April 13, 2026
Liz Chesser went home to be with the Lord in her residence, surrounded by her loving family, on April 13, 2026. She was born September 8, 1939, in Cable, Ohio to Herbert E. Dillard Sr. and Eltha B. (Paige) Dillard. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her loving husband William “Bill” Chesser, her siblings Eloise Dillard, Joann Gill, Grace Powers, Herbert Dillard Jr., Jenny Rudd, Nancy (Larry) Calton, Gladys (Leo) Groves, special Aunt Vaughn, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Along with several fur babies throughout the years. Liz is survived by her children Debra Chesser of London, John (Melinda) Chesser of London, grandchildren Chad (Chelsea) Chesser, Claudia (Dillon) Toy, great granddaughters Isebelle Toy and Rayelan Chesser. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Special cousin and friend Carol Crum. Grand dogs Hershey and Faith. Several friends along the way. She never knew a stranger’s face.
Liz’s parents bought the family farm in South Charleston, Ohio in 1946. Where they lived, loved and made wonderful, lifelong memories. Being one of the oldest children, she would share stories of all the wonderful memories and difficult days of growing up in a world so different from today. Liz graduated from Southeastern High School in 1958. After graduation she went on to work at G C Murphy Co and Buckeye Insurance Company, before moving to Florida with her parents and youngest sisters. After returning to London, she had several other jobs throughout the years including being employed by G C Murphy Co, London City Water Department, Matco Industries all before retiring from Madison County Board of DD as a van driver for Madison County Ride. While raising their children she babysat and was proud Co-Owner of Chesser Shell Gas Station.
Most of all Liz was devoted to God. Praising him daily for all he helped her with; first always praying for others in her heart and mind. She loved going to church and socializing with her church family. Enjoyed reading or having the bible and daily devotionals read to her as her vision declined. Liz had an audio bible that was part of her nightly routine to listen to as she dozed off praying for a restful night of sleep. She also enjoyed watching Rejoice in the Lord on Sunday evenings. Throughout the years Liz attended First Church of God in Cedarville, Ohio, where she was baptized by Reverend Palmer at the age of 13. Later attending Christian Union Church in London. Liz started attending Madison County Vineyard Church in 2010 before becoming a proud member in 2012.
Liz was a devoted wife to Wiliam “Bill” Chesser, they started dating in high school and became engaged 12 years later. Marrying one another on July 22, 1966. They were married almost 45 years before he passed on June 6, 2011. She yearned for the day to be with the love of her life again.
Liz lived a rich full life. She was always on the go and treasured her time with her family, friends and loved ones. If she was hosting, she made sure there was plenty of food and leftovers. She enjoyed planning long family vacations, camping trips, bowling in a league, playing cards, cooking, shop till you drop, plants and flowers, and doing word search puzzles. Whatever the season, maybe she’d be watching or following Cincinnati Reds baseball, The Ohio State Buckeyes football or basketball. Her favorite color was blue. She collected TY stuffies, angels, bears and roosters. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Liz was loved by everyone that knew her. She will be deeply missed. May you rest easy, your work on Earth is finished.
