HUNTER Dorotha Jean Hunter (Dot), of London, Ohio died on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the age of 91, at the Madison Senior Living in London, Ohio. She passed peacefully surrounded by her immediate family. Born October 4, 1921 in Clark County, Ohio, Dot was one of two children of Maude and Clark Silver, life-long residents of Clark County near the Village of Plattsburg. She was a graduate of the Plattsburg Village School, Class of 1939. Attended nursing school in Springfield, Ohio prior to her marriage in 1941. Jim and Dot Hunter lived on the Hunter family farm near South Charleston, Ohio until they moved to London, Ohio in 1962. Dot was an athlete in high school where she played basketball. A bowler and became a proficient golfer. She was a life-long sports fan with a special affection for college sports, golf and an avid OSU fan. One of her great unfulfilled desires was to have been a race car driver. Dot was especially fond of passing her days with her friends at Madison Senior Living telling jokes and venting her views on the foibles human nature sparing no one with her sharp wit, and when the music began she always had a little dance. Dot was a member of the Eastern star, South Charleston, Ohio and a former member of the First United Methodist Church of London. Socially Dot was a member of the London Country Club and active in a local bridge club. Dorotha was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Hunter, who died on July 1, 1993. She is survived by all five of her children; son and daughter in law Martin and Jo Ann Hunter of Centerville, Ohio; daughters and sons in law Barbara and Bill Justice of London, Ohio; Dorcas and Robert Dillingham of Carmel, Indiana; Cathy and Phil Jordan of London, Ohio and Mary Jo and Kevin McCarey of San Diego, California. There are ten grandchildren. Zachary and Josh Hunter of San Diego, Seth Palmer of Hilliard, Ohio, Weston Dillingham of Denver, Colorado, Amber Dillingham Cochran of Singapore, Rob and Damon Jordan of Hilliard, Ohio; Rachel Jordan of Arlington, Virginia; Bridie McCarey of San Diego, and Eamonn McCarey attending the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. There are six great grandchildren. The family wants to extend a special appreciation to the Madison Senior Living staff and Heartland Hospice. They made her last days peaceful and gave comfort to her immediate family. Donations are encouraged in her name to either the American Red Cross or the United Methodist Church Building Fund in London, Ohio. The family invites friends to share in the celebration of Dot's life at 3:00 PM Saturday in Kirkwood Cemetery. Reverend Steve Rodgers will officiate.
